Superhydrophobic Textiles for Protective Clothing

This chapter emphasizes the importance of developing superhydrophobic and oleophobic textiles for protective clothing. Fundamental concepts and mechanisms of superhydrophobicity and oleophobicity are briefly discussed along with the materials and the process techniques involved. Characterization of the surface morphology and evaluation of functional properties of various nanoparticles coated textile substrates are discussed as case studies.
