The Application of Information Technologies for Agrotourism in the Municipality of Guapotá, Santander, Colombia

The constant expansion of the global network and the use of information technologies (IT) are crucial for tourism research. Information and communication technologies (ICT) as geographic information technologies (GIT) play a significant role in this discipline. These technologies have provided opportunities to reach millions of users, and their implementation in rural environments has led to substantial development and tourism growth. Applying IT in tourism research is particularly relevant in the context of agrotourism in the municipality of Guapotá, Colombia. It enables the visualization and dissemination of information about the municipality at regional, national, and international levels. The aim of this research is to explore the importance of IT for agrotourism in Guapotá, Colombia, by collecting data such as databases and geographic information. The research methodology involves systematizing information from general to specific, thereby ensuring the proper use of IT in agrotourism. Utilizing IT facilitates access and management of information and databases. This research established a management system for information collection, which is crucial in understanding the importance of agrotourism in Colombia and identifying viable conditions for agrotourism in the study area. Furthermore, it allows the identification of the geographic conditions of the region. Agrotourism can serve as a driving force for community development by focusing on preserving traditional cultural aspects and promoting them through various media channels available today.
