Societies, ICT, and Higher Education in the Twenty-First Century: Reflections and Proposals

Universities contribute to building a country's capacity to participate in a knowledge-based economy. This article aims to analyze the role of HEIs in the twenty-first century, the possibilities and limits of ICT usage in higher education, as well as the challenges that need to be overcome for the development of DTC at this level of education. To achieve this goal, a literature review will be presented, as well as a proposal for to develop digital competence of university professors for future implementation.
