Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development of Leather Sector in Vietnam

The Vietnamese leather sector was established in 1990 and has developed strongly. This industry plays an important role in the national economy, has a large export turnover and creates jobs for many workers. In the next time, the leather sector will maintain good competitiveness and have the opportunity to continue to develop. The aim of this chapter was to present the results of assessing the current status of Vietnam's leather and footwear industry, analyse domestic and foreign factors influencing the development of the sector. Besides, this study also assessed opportunities and challenges and proposed some development strategies for Vietnam's leather sector towards sustainability.
