Call for a Unique North-South-South-Triangular Co-operation for Education for Leather and Allied Sector

Education and training are essential for the holistic development of the leather and allied sector. Formal higher education in leather started in the late nineteenth century in research organizations and universities. In this chapter, the initiation, growth and existence of various training schools, research institutions and organizations involved in leather training and education on the global landscape have been briefed. Chennai Leather School, a triple helix model for leather education, has been pondered with a real-life experimental concept. A unique North-South-South triangular co-operative model in higher leather education and advanced training is suggested. This would enable to embrace next-generation technologies to achieve sustainable education. This article emphasizes the importance of the global education community and its relevance in alignment to achieve sustainable growth in the leather and allied sector.
