Vertical Drain Method for Expansion of Acceptable Capacity of Disposal Pond for Dredged Clay and Its Evaluation
摘要
As the remaining capacity of disposal ponds to accept dredged clay generated by port development projects is running low, projects to expand the capacity of disposal ponds in operation are underway in many parts of Japan. This paper introduces a case study of the ground improvement method using prefabricated vertical drain (hereinafter referred to as “PVD”) at Shinmoji-oki disposal pond for dredged marine clay, discusses how to set up a ground model, and evaluates the effective period of PVD, which was an issue at the time of design, based on the results of reclamation analysis.
