摘要

Lateritic soils constitute a major road pavement construction material in the southeastern parts of Nigeria, where annual rainfall amounts are appreciably high. This paper presents and discusses results of an experimental study of compaction and California bearing ratio (CBR) characteristics of a coarse-grained lateritic soil obtained from Ugwuoba, Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria, and subjected to lime and cement mixture stabilization. The CBR tests were conducted on specimens compacted at optimum British Standard light compaction conditions. The best results were obtained when the soil was stabilized with a mixture of 6% lime and 6% cement contents.
