Finite Element Analysis of Buttress Wall to Reduce Lateral Deformation of Deep Excavation Adjacent to Tunnels in HCMC
摘要
The paper presents numerical analysis to consider the effect of T-shaped retaining wall (buttress wall) in reducing the lateral displacement of the tunnels placed in the influential zone of deep excavation. The commercial numerical software, namely PLAXIS 2D, and a recent project with well-observed are adopted for analysis purposes. The hardening soil model is applied to simulate the soil behavior. The D-wall is first selected as the retaining wall structure. Due to the effect of the deep excavation on the available adjacent tunnel, buttress wall is used to replace D-wall. The lateral displacements of the adjacent tunnel created using different retaining wall structures are examined. As a result, using buttress wall retaining walls shows that it can effectively reduce the influence zone of the deep excavation on adjacent tunnels.
