Stress Distribution of Pile Group on Jakarta Diluvium Clay Using 3D Finite Element Method

摘要

Some analytical methods to estimate the stress distribution along the depth assume that the soil is elastic material and homogenous. This paper contains the stress distribution of pile groups on Jakarta Diluvium Clay from two (2) projects in North Jakarta. The analysis is conducted using the 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) to simulate the loadings of the pile group in order to obtain the settlement and its stress distribution below the pile group. The important findings from this research are the stress distribution for Jakarta Diluvium Clay which is practically similar to the Simplified Method (2V:1H). However, the stress distribution is much larger on the sand layer from the 3D FEM analysis, impact on the deviator stress below the sand layer is much smaller from the 3D FEM, compared to the Simplified Method.
