Bearing Capacity of Circular Footing on c-ϕ Slope

摘要

The paper presents a new investigation on the bearing capacity of a circular footing on a c–φ slope using a commercial finite element code, namely Plaxis. The effects of design parameters, including soil strengths, slope angle, the distance between footing, and slope on the bearing capacity of the circular footing, are investigated. The obtained results are verified with previous researches. A well agreement between the predictions from the present study and the previous results is achieved. Furthermore, the failure mechanisms considering the impact of the investigated parameters are also determined. The obtained results are presented in the form of design charts and tables, allowing practitioners to predict the bearing capacity of circular footing on c–φ slopes.
