Intracranial Pressure Monitoring in Traumatic Brain Injury

Raised intracranial pressure (ICP) is a common clinical condition in neurosurgical and neurological intensive care unit (ICU) setups spanning from traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, intracerebral hematoma (ICH), infections, and space-occupying neoplastic lesions or co-existing systemic disease. All the treatment protocols should be aimed at preventing secondary brain insult that follows primary brain injury and thus modulating the final outcomes (Fig. 16.1).
