China: Paths to Clean Water Under Increasingly Dynamic Environment

This paper offers a comprehensive analysis of water pollution in China, exploring multiple sources, including groundwater, rivers, lakes, and marine water. It addresses the challenges of water pollution, particularly focusing on eutrophication of reservoirs. The study provides a case example at Wuli Lake to illustrate potential solutions. Furthermore, it discusses relevant water policies, laws, and regulations, highlighting opportunities arising from these policies. To combat water pollution in China's rapidly changing environment, the country has developed comprehensive strategies and technologies for source control and pollution interception. There's also a strong focus on ecological restoration and the construction of sponge cities. These efforts encompass physical, chemical, and biological methods. Additionally, the paper examines major water transfer projects in China, with a case study on the Changjiang - Taihu water transfer project, along with an analysis of their impact on aquatic ecosystems.
