Design and Implementation of Multiple Model-Based PI Controller for Conical Frustum Level Process

Liquid level control is a challenging task in process industries due to various tank geometries. The goal is to evaluate a control strategy which effectively controls the frustum cone process tank in wide operating range. To achieve the goal, multiple model-based controller, which is a weighted fusion of local linear PI controllers, is designed. The local linear PI controllers are obtained by standard IMC tuning rules applied to local linear models. The extensive simulation studies show that the proposed control scheme effectively handles servo change and servo regulatory change in frustum cone process over a wide operating range.
