Design and Planning of a Standalone Solar Charging Station at Workplace

摘要

Electric vehicles are increasing day-by-day so as to reduce carbon emissions and also because of huge increase in the fuel prices. Increase in electric vehicle loads will cause stress on the grid in future. The best possible solution is to make use of renewable sources to charge the electric vehicles. Local power generation helps the charging station to run more economically. Solar PV modules are used to charge electric vehicles. Solar system is also integrated with the grid and storage devices. Solar energy and storage devices not only supplement the grid but to also work as standalone system. Many companies and startups are working in the direction of developing charging stations, chargers and cloud services. Still a lot more has to be achieved. This paper is concentrated on designing and planning a solar charging station at a workplace. MATLAB/Simulink model is used to design the model. Results are presented.
