Medical Tourism: An Application of Quality Function Deployment Model

Medical need is one such aspect that propels individuals to travel, despite enough constraints that one might be going through and this fuels Medical TourismMedical Tourism” (MT). MT is growing rapidly, especially in developing countries, owing to the requirement for healthcare facilities and its cheaper availability. This paper identifies the major requirements of Medical Tourists through interviews and focused group discussions and models them using Complex System Model. Next best–worst method is applied weight the customer requirements based on their importance. Further, Quality Function Deployment is used to evaluate the fulfillment of customers’ requirements by country parameters. Finally, infrastructure development, skill availability, and medical standards are identified as important parameters that need to be developed for attracting Medical Tourists. HospitalsHospitals” are also required to work on getting certifications and accreditations for proving quality standards.
