An Interleaved DC-DC Boost Converter for Performance Enhancement of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell System Using Fuzzy Logic Controller

摘要

The increase in energy consumption all over the world led researchers and countries to focus on alternatives to conventional energy sources. Fuel cell (FC) serves as an alternative to those conventional sources. FCs use hydrogen as their main fuel for generating power and are considered as a clean energy source. This paper presents the simulation of an electrical system where a Proton Exchange Membrane FC (PEMFC) acts as a power generation source and resistance is used as load. The system employed PEMFC, interleaved boost converter, load, and controller. The output of the interleaved converter comes to be 90 V as desired. A comparison of the output obtained using a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller is presented in this article. The rise time, settling time, and overshoot in case of FLC is 0.01 s, 0.2 s, and 0.21 V respectively, whereas in case of PID controller, the values are 0.015 s, 0.39 s, and 7.39 V respectively which shows the superiority of FLC over PID controller.
