A Comprehensive Review: Sentiment Analysis for Indian Local Languages

Every single one of us regularly shares one’s thoughts on various social media sites in this modern era. These thoughts reflect their sentiments and the researchers collect these data for analysis purposes. The sentiment analysis is gaining significant attention in recent years due to its applications in understanding different public perceptions and sentiment toward various aspects. A substantial amount of research is being conducted for sentiment analysis in major languages like English, Punjabi, Urdu, etc. However, there is still a scope for improvement exists for the analysis of sentiments in Indian regional languages. This paper addresses the research gaps by presenting a comprehensive study of sentiment analysis for Indian regional languages. The diverse linguistic landscape of India poses a unique challenge in sentiment analysis, including variations in syntax, grammar, and expressions. This research investigates the effectiveness of various approaches, ranging from traditional machine learning methods to modern deep learning techniques, in capturing sentiment nuances specific to these languages.
