The Impact of Peer Feedback on Student Learning Effectiveness: A Meta-analysis Based on 39 Experimental or Quasiexperimental Studies
摘要
Peer feedback can help students construct learners’ knowledge and is one of the most important ways to enhance the effectiveness of learning. This study used a meta-analytic approach to comprehensively sort, analyse, and evaluate 39 domestic and foreign experimental or quasiexperimental studies on the effects of peer feedback on student learning outcomes. Through coding statistical analysis, it was found that (1) the random effects model showed a combined effect value of 0.651 and reached a statistically significant level, indicating that peer feedback has a moderate to above positive impact on improving student learning and has a greater impact on cognitive dimensions than on noncognitive dimensions. (2) The effectiveness of peer feedback was moderated to varying degrees by school section, experimental period, class size, grouping principle, group size, feedback method, feedback type, and anonymity, with a significant moderating effect of the grouping principle on the effectiveness of peer feedback.
