Practical Teaching Exploration and Reform of Signal and Information Processing Courses

In order to develop the students’ practical ability, this paper explores and realizes the optimization of practice and applications based on the signal and information processing course system. The constructed course system consists of courses categorized as fundamental theory, theoretical applications and technical practice. A progressive mode of practical teaching is designed and carried out by a dual professional teacher team. At the same time, an effective path to improving students’ practical ability is built from basic experiments, to Project Based Learning (PBL) task, and then to extracurricular extensions. Speech signal processing is taken as an example course to show the details of basic experiments design and PBL task arrangement. The practice of adaptive filtering in speech signal is used to demonstrate how to transform signal and information processing algorithms from software simulation to real-time implementation. The statistical results indicate that students’ practical ability has been greatly improved through the progressive practice mode in our constructed course system.
