Research on the Teaching Model of Interdisciplinary Computational Thinking Cultivating from the Perspective of Problem-Solving

Computational thinking is a thinking process related to formal problems and their solutions, and the development of students’ computational thinking skills is one of the important objectives of basic IT teaching. This paper explores the feasibility of developing computational thinking skills through mathematical problem solving using Python programming. To accomplish this, we conducted a literature review spanning the past ten years, focusing on the keywords “IT computational thinking” and “mathematical problem solving” in basic education. The analysis of the literature allowed us to assess the current state of research. We generated keyword clusters to uncover the intrinsic link between IT computational thinking and mathematics in problem solving. Based on this analysis, we developed a model that integrates the sub-competencies of computational thinking and the elements of mathematical problem solving. Furthermore, we designed teaching activities and provided targeted teaching suggestions to promote the development of learners’ computational thinking in various aspects. Our intention is to offer new perspectives and research ideas for the advancement of computational thinking education.
