Exploration and Practice of Operating System Curriculum Reform Based on the Integration of Science and Education

Operating system (OS) is the core control of a computer, which serves as the command and management center of a computer, often referred to as the brain of a computer. Currently, operating systems are an important required course for computer science majors. Compared with other professional courses, the OS course is more abstract in concept, more theoretical, and difficult to practice, which is often considered as a “hard nut to crack” by many students. Many students often face difficulties in understanding concepts, mastering theories, and completing experiments. How to stimulate students’ interest in learning this course, improve the low effectiveness of classroom teaching and the tedious and difficult nature of experiments is a problem that has been constantly explored in the teaching reform of operating system courses. Based on the characteristics of the knowledge system of operating systems and combined with heuristic teaching methods, this paper proposes a new approach to the reform of operating system courses through the integration of science and education.
