Personalized Questioning Teaching Mode for English Reading in Junior High School Based on Automatic Question Generation
摘要
Asking questions is a teaching strategy widely used in English reading teaching in junior middle school and plays a vital role in improving students’ English reading literacy. However, questioning is a sophisticated mental activity, and it is difficult for teachers to quickly generate personalized questions that meet different teaching stages and students’ reading levels. This greatly reduces the effectiveness of questioning. To address this problem, we propose a novel question generation setting called Difficulty-Selectable Question Generation (DSQG), which can be used in junior high school English reading teaching. Further, this technology can be employed to design a personalized questioning teaching model supported for junior high school English teaching. To verify the effectiveness of the teaching model, we conduct an empirical study on an experimental class and an ordinary class in a middle school in Q City of Yunnan Province. The research results show that the personalized questioning teaching model can effectively improve students’ reading levels. However, we still need to iterate and improve this teaching mode in practice.
