Designing of GUI-Based Home Automation System Using Arduino and MATLAB

The home automation industry has attracted the researcher’s favorable focus for over ten years. The plan’s primary goal is to manage and monitor electronic and electrical household appliances mechanically. The home automation system has launched and developed numerous industrial and research versions. Many technologies have been incorporated into an effective home system. This paper’s main objective is to suggest a method for monitoring and managing household equipment that interfaces MATLAB and a microcontroller. The solution suggested uses serial communication to connect a microcontroller to MATLAB to control home appliances. The status of household appliances will be displayed constantly on a GUI developed with MATLAB, thanks to an image acquisition device that is interfaced with the program. Appropriate instructing is carried out from the MATLAB GUI, and home appliances connected to the Arduino through relay boards can be turned ON or OFF.
