Performance Evaluation of Wi-Fi 6 Using Different Channel Estimation Techniques

摘要

Wi-Fi 6 (also known as 802.11ax) is the new generation of Wi-Fi technology with a new focus on high efficiency, bandwidth of 2.4 GHz, maximum speed of up to 10 Gbps and enhancing throughput-per-area. IEEE 802.11 ax frame structure consists of Legacy preamble, HE preamble, and Data, with BPSK modulation and a channel bandwidth of 20 MHz. The accuracy of channel performance can be affected by various factors such as channel fading, AWGN noise, interference, and Doppler shift, which can make it difficult to obtain reliable channel estimates. This can be overcome by adaptive channel estimation techniques like Least Square (LS), Linear Minimum Mean Square Equalizer (LMMSE). The evaluation is conducted using pilot bits and using Software Defined Radio (HackRF One) and Oscilloscope (6 Series Tektronix Oscilloscope) under realistic conditions which demonstrates the performance of 802.11ax for different scenarios are analyzed using Error Vector Magnitude (EVM).
