Hydrological Time Series Analysis
摘要
Forecasting a time series into the future is one of the most common applications of statistical modeling in hydrology. Typically, hydrologists are interested in forecasting streamflow and floods, which itself is a complex nonlinear phenomenon controlled by meteorological and geomorphological factors. Apart from streamflow, hydrologists typically also attempt to forecast soil moisture, groundwater level, and water quality parameters. Various time series statistical methods can be applied to a long record of observations, in order to uncover trends, patterns, and cycles.
