Evidence and Implementation of HPV Vaccination
摘要
Due to the combination of effective cervical screening and prophylactic vaccination by the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccines, cervical cancer has become a preventable cancer. In May 2018, the WHO announced a global call for action to eliminate cervical cancer. The evolution and implementation of cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccines and the global strategy instigated by the WHO are moving humankind toward the elimination of cervical cancer, although there are still many challenges to overcome. This chapter summarizes the status of HPV vaccination in the world, including the effectiveness and safety of HPV vaccines available at present. Real-world data from three countries with successful national HPV vaccine programs show that elimination of cervical cancer is no longer impossible through regional efforts and international cooperation.
