Hereditary Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

GIST are malignant tumors driven by KIT or PDGFRA gene gain-of-function mutations. In the vast majority of GIST, KIT or PDGFRA display somatic mutations, but a small number of GIST have germline mutations in the above genes. This kind of GIST often presents with some characteristic clinical manifestations and needs clinicians’ attention.
