Small Intestine
摘要
This chapter discusses about the development, motility, secretion of small intestine, and its neurohormonal control. Macro and micronutrient absorption mechanisms have been revisited. Key clinical topics of interest like celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), intestinal TB, disorders of gut–brain axis, and their pathogenesis have been discussed. At the end, there is a brief discussion on recent advances in small bowel imaging, metabolic surgery, and duodenal resurfacing.
