Control Theory Approach to Passive Snubber Design for Motor Drivers

This paper represents a method for designing a passive RC snubber using graphical and mathematical approaches. This can be achieved in two ways. Firstly, by evaluating the step response of the load and analyzing the dependency of the rate of rise of response under varying load conditions and parameters such as torque, armature voltage, armature current and rpm in case of a motor as a load. Subsequently, a graphical approach has also been proposed for finding out the snubber parameters.
