Fault Detection, Classification, and Identification of Shunt Compensated Distribution System Through Wavelet Transforms
摘要
This study presents an informal and competent method of fault detection, classification, and identification in distribution networks compensated with a distribution static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) using wavelet transforms. The wavelet transform technique is very fast and sensitive to high-frequency signals, used to extract transients in line currents to detect faults. The three-phase fault current for different faults line to ground (LG), Line to Line (LL), Double line to ground (LLG), and the three-phase (LLLG) fault obtained are decomposed into numerous levels with Daubechies (db-4) wavelet to db4 to excerpt the features. The robustness of the algorithm is proved in the MATLAB Simulink model by considering different fault cases to verify the accuracy of wavelet transforms. The performance of DSTATCOM is demonstrated in different faulty conditions. It is verified through simulation during normal and faulty conditions to fulfill the requirement of reactive power through DSTATCOM to improve the voltage profile in the distribution system.
