Performance Analysis of Various Converters in PV Systems Using PSO-Based MPPT
摘要
This paper presents the performance analysis and comparison of six different DC–DC converters utilized to step up the output voltages. These converters are taken from Basic (SEPIC and CUK), Modified (Interleaved and IBC), and Advanced Boost (SCBC and SSBC) DC–DC converters. As these converters are based on power electronic devices that need an external source to operate, a solar PV panel having the maximum power, voltage, and current rating of 3198 W, 202.3 V, and 15.81 amp, respectively, is used for analysis. The analysis is done for both constant STC and variable irradiation. To track the maximum power, a bio-inspired PSO-based MPPT is used, which controls the duty cycle of the converter. The comparison and analysis of the six different converters are done in terms of voltage, current, power, and transient response. The simulation is implemented in MATLAB 2022a for uniform and non-uniform conditions. The results show that SPEIC, Interleaved, and SCBC show good results at constant STC. Among these, the SCBC-based DC–DC converter gives the highest efficiency of 95.5% at non-uniform irradiation. This indicates that the PSO-based MPPT technique can be implemented with the SCBC converter to obtain the best results.
