摘要

Hepatitis B infection is caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV), which damages the liver and can lead to chronic liver diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Worldwide, chronic hepatitis B virus (CHB) infection is considered a serious health problem. The United Nations (UN) has urged all nations to “fight viral hepatitis” by introducing sustainable development goals. The World Health Organization (WHO) responded by introducing an international action plan. In this chapter, although a functional cure for HBV has not yet been achieved, we highlight the progress made by global initiatives and examine the obstacles that stand in the way of eliminating the virus while suggesting ways of overcoming them.
