摘要

Natural and/or human activities release dangerous chemicals into the environment, endangering both human health and the environment. Rising fossil fuel consumption over the past century has altered global weather patterns. There are differences in the chemical make-up, reaction properties, emission, disintegration time, and range of diffusion between carbon monoxide (CO), sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NO), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ozone (O3), heavy metals, and respirable particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10). Multiple body systems and organs are negatively impacted by air pollution, both in the short and long terms. In addition to triggering asthma attacks and making existing heart and lung conditions worse, secondhand smoke can irritate the upper respiratory tract, lead to lung cancer, and trigger acute respiratory infections in children. The risk of dying young and having a shorter life span increases both with shorter and longer exposure times. The adverse health impacts of air pollution and its detrimental implications on human well-being.
