Pain in Abdominal Viscera
摘要
Pain in the abdominal viscera is more complex than chest pain as most of the human viscera locate in the abdominal region. Evaluating any patient with a complaint of abdominal pain is challenging. Abdominal pain can be benign and self-limited or a harbinger of a serious life-threatening disease. The diagnoses of related diseases require careful consideration and clinical interrogation besides appropriate diagnostic testing to discern whether the entity is indeed the cause of the patient’s pain. This chapter centers on irritable bowel syndrome, peptic gastric ulcer, chronic pancreatitis and its acute attacks, biliary dyskinesia, visceral pain due to surgeries, and common pediatric recurrent abdominal pain.
