Establishing a sound carbon pricing mechanism is the key to guaranteeing the healthy and effective operation of the carbon market. Based on the analysis of the progress and trends of international carbon pricing mechanisms, this chapter summarizes the experience and insights of carbon pricing mechanisms, discusses the progress and development trend of China’s carbon pricing mechanism, and proposes a theory, roadmap, and policy recommendations for the construction of a carbon pricing mechanism that will help China achieve its strategic goal of “dual carbon”.
