In order to implement the major strategic decision of the “dual carbon” strategy, this chapter introduces the basic knowledge of carbon sinks. It analyzes the carbon sink potential of China’s forestry industry and its contribution to the “dual carbon” strategy. The chapter also explores the carbon sink potential and contribution of China’s terrestrial ecosystem and discusses the main ways to increase the carbon sink capacity of China's ecosystem. Furthermore, it introduces the different types of forestry carbon sink projects and provides a detailed explanation of the development and trading processes using the example of CCER carbon sink projects. The chapter also shares the progress and project cases of CDM, VCS, CCER, and other types of forestry carbon sink trading in China.
