The Geothermal Resource Potential Evaluation for Paleogene Dongying Reservoir in Tianjin Binhai New Area

With Tianjin Binhai New Area development and opening, the demand for geothermal energy is increasing. The Paleogene Dongying geothermal resource is an important geothermal resource in Tianjin Binhai New Area, the amount of geothermal resources have become more important which will determine whether the demand can be met. On the basis of introducing geological construction and depostional characteristics of the Dongying formation, we analyze the boundary conditions. The mapping virtual well method is used to generalize the water-resisting boundary into an infinite boundary. The geothermal resources development potential of Paleogene Dongying formation in study area was calculated using the Theis model of two-dimensional groundwater seeping. It is calculated that the recoverable capacity of Dongying geothermal fluid is 233.6 × 104 m3/a under the single well exploitation model and 315.36 × 104 m3/a under the reinjection rate 35% of the double well exploitation model. The recoverable heat of Dongying geothermal reservoir is 5.825 × 1013 kJ, 18.47 MW in the single well model, and 7.864 × 1013 kJ, 24.93 MW in the double well exploitation model. The Dongying geothermal resource reserves belong to medium scale in Tianjin Binhai New Area. The strong potential areas of geothermal exploitation are located in the northeast and southeast of the study area, which are located in the central areas of Beitang and Banqiao Sags. Under the optimized exploitation mode, the annual recoverable amount of Dongying geothermal fluid is 401.5 × 104 m3/a in the study area.
