The Classification Methods of Anisotropic Rock Mass and Applications

摘要

Rock mass classification methods are useful tools for engineering geologists to evaluate the quality of jointed rock mass in nature, and have been widely used in the engineering construction. Nevertheless some special rock mass such as anisotropic rock mass or bimrocks. In this study, we reviewed the existing classification tools and introduced a recently developed classification method for anisotropic rock mass. Both the anisotropic degree and rock mass quality can be determined with this method. And then the we evaluate the rock mass engineering slopes along a railway using this method for layered rock mass along with a combined method for non-layered rock mass. The reliability and accessibility of the method may expect an extensive application in future.
