Sand-Well Immersion Test on Deep-Seated Collapsible Loess in Shenhe Loess Plateau

To study the collapsibility of deep-seated collapsible loess strata in the Shenhe plateau, a 64-day sand-well immersion test was carried out. This test assessed the water transmission law of deep-seated collapsible loess, self-weight collapsible deformation of strata at different depths, and the earth surface settlement deformation. The test results indicate that the maximum collapsible deformation of shallow marked points in the site is 6.2 mm. Accordingly, the site is judged to be a non-self-weight collapsible site, which was consistent with the evaluation results on large-scale trial pit immersion tests in adjacent sites, verifying that the results of the sand-well immersion test have high reference value for collapsibility evaluation. The suggested value for correction coefficient \(\beta_{0}{\prime}\) of the calculated value for self-weight collapse deformation of loess strata in Shenhe plateau is 0.16, and the research results can provide a reference for engineering design and construction in the loess area of Shenhe plateau.
