Analysis of Shear Strength of Jointed Rock Masses Based on Connectivity Rate
摘要
Irregular joint surfaces in natural rock masses not only weaken their strength, but also cause significant anisotropy in the shear strength across different directions. Assessing the shear strength of rock masses in various directions using on-site survey data is beneficial for engineering design and construction. The connectivity rate indicates the level of connectivity among structural planes in the jointed rock mass, and it can be used to determine the shear strength of the rock mass. This article utilizes the Monte-Carlo random method to construct a fracture network model that aligns with the geometric distribution characteristics of on-site joints, as determined by joint measurement results. The study analyses the connectivity rate and shear strength parameters of joints in various shear directions within engineering rock masses. The findings show a notable variation in joint connectivity and shear strength among different directions within the rock masses. Notably, the direction of occurrence at 146°∠79° exhibits the highest joint connectivity and is the most susceptible to failure.
