Area Requirement & Planning

  • Ajay Garg

摘要

Designing hospitals requires specialized knowledge due to the wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services offered through various departments. Compliance with regulations from multiple agencies further complicates the process. Determining the carpet area for each service and functionality is essential. Hospitals consist of functional areas for emergency services, OPD, diagnostic, intensive care units, therapeutic services, administrative/ancillary services, and engineering services. Room lists are prepared considering accreditation norms, patient numbers, and future expansion. Movement spaces are added to calculate the total floor area requirement. Hospitals are then divided into different zones based on patient accessibility and functionality, including fast movement, semi-movement, limited movement, banned, restricted, and service zones.
