Radiation Therapy

Radiation Therapy (RT) is a specialized cancer treatment that uses radioactive rays from a Linear Accelerator (LINAC). Brachytherapy is employed for internal beam radiation, where radioactive sources are placed near or within tumor tissue. Radiotherapy bunkers are essential and located away from general areas. The Radiotherapy department requires various rooms like teletherapy, intracavitary treatment, planning, and medical physics laboratories, along with bunkers to prevent radiation leakage. Additionally, utility areas for reception, registration, and consultation are needed. The radiotherapy ward should include patient beds, treatment rooms, and nursing facilities. Design considerations involve flooring, lighting, HVAC, and furniture to meet regulatory standards and ensure patient safety.
