Clinical Laboratories

摘要

Clinical laboratories play a vital role in conducting clinical pathology tests on patient specimens to gather health information for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. A typical hospital laboratory consists of three main sections: clinical pathology, biochemistry, and microbiology, each with further sub-divisions. Supporting infrastructure includes various rooms such as autoclave, bulk storage, biohazard/trash/recycle, and more. Utility areas cater to doctors, managers, and technicians, while outpatient phlebotomy spaces with related facilities are provided. Staff amenities like a lounge, lockers, showers, and toilets are also included. The lab’s size varies based on patient load, expected specimens, and types of investigations. Design considerations encompass flooring, lighting, electricity, ventilation, and essential equipment for efficient functioning.
