Delivery Room/Labor Room

The Delivery Suite, also known as the Labor Room or Birthing Unit, is a specialized area for childbirth, providing safe prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care for mothers and infants. It is located near the Obstetric department and NICU (Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit) in a restricted area. The LDR complex is divided into three zones: Unsterile, Protective, and Delivery zones. Each zone serves different functions, such as administrative areas, changing rooms, delivery rooms, and storage facilities. The LDR complex can be designed in various types, including simple rooms, pre-fabricated modular, semi-modular, modular, and hybrid ORs. Design considerations encompass room sizes, infrastructure, HVAC, equipment, interiors, and wayfinding.
