Intensive Care Units
摘要
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a dedicated, self-contained area providing specialized expert care for critically ill patients. It is equipped with trained medical and nursing staff, monitoring, and life-support facilities. The ICU design depends on the number of required beds and the severity of illnesses treated. It comprises Patient Care, Clinical Support, Unit Support, and Family Support Zones. Design considerations include room sizes, doors/windows, furniture, electrical points, HVAC, equipment, interiors, signage, and infection control measures like Covid-19 protocols. Distancing and precautions for infectious diseases must be prioritized by the ICU designers.
