Dynamic Load Balancing Schemes for Software-Defined Networking (SDN)

摘要

Due to the forwarding devices’ tightly integrated data, control, and management plane functionalities, the traditional network architecture faces difficulties in terms of complexity and management. A concept known as “software-defined networking” (SDN) separates the data plane from network control and administration. The idea of programmable networks has emerged as a response to these issues. Network management capabilities are enhanced, and complexity is reduced by this separation. In order to reduce service response times and evenly distribute workload among serving nodes, load-balancing methods in SDN networks are the focus of this paper. Methods for reactive and proactive load balancing in SDN, particularly in machine-to-machine (M2M) networks, are examined in this paper. Through its global network view and dynamic forwarding rule updates, it investigates the potential of SDN to enhance load balancing. Strategies for load balancing at the controller and server levels are also discussed in the paper. It emphasizes the significance of distributing client requests effectively among multiple servers and balancing controller traffic loads. The research that is presented in the paper sheds light on the advancements and difficulties in SDN network load balancing. These insights offer potential solutions for maintaining business continuity and improving network performance.
