Accessing Indian Historical Pictorial Collection in Digital Era: A Case Study of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library
摘要
The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) is India’s largest archive of private paper collections and photographs of significant persons, social and political groups who actively participated in India’s freedom struggle. This is a research organization specializing in modern and contemporary history. The photo section of the library has huge and rare collections of photographs which is being used by authors, publishers, research scholars, and various government and non-government organizations for multiple purposes. This section is well equipped for the readers. It has been noticed that the photographs are being used by the users effectively. This paper highlights the collection development, preservation and conservation, and uses of the photographs. The availability of digital Indian historical photographs and facilities also elaborated in this paper.
