Visualization of Research Landscape of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, Assam

The study attempts to visualize the developments and trends in scientific output and collaboration patterns of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, for 10 years (2013–2022) based on the Scopus database. This study identifies the year-wise distribution of the publication and finds out the annual growth rate (AGR). It also identifies the most prolific authors by h-index and the number of citations, the document form, subject-wise distribution, top collaboration countries, top-cited documents, and the funding agencies received by the institute during the study period. There are 15,226 documents affiliated with IIT, Guwahati. Data analysis and visualization were performed using bibliometrics software, namely VOS Viewer, Biblioshiny via R-studio, and Microsoft Excel. The study revealed that over 67.79% of records were published in journal articles. The highest number of publications was in 2022, with 2214 publications and an AGR of 10.97. Among the authors, Kumar A stood out with a maximum number of 379 publications. Notably, the journal “Physical Review D” is highly influential, producing a maximum of 346 publications with a 31 h-index. This study provides valuable implications for university authorities and policy planners, enabling them to understand the scientific production of universities and institutions through visualization approaches.
