A Multicultural Era: Han, Wei, and the Southern and Northern Dynasties
摘要
In 206 B.C.E., Xiang Yu conquered the capital city Xianyang and the Qin Dynasty was overthrown. Subsequently, Xiang Yu and Liu Bang successively claimed as hegemon kings of Chu Kingdom and Han Kingdom. After the four-year Chu-Han Contention, in 202 B.C.E., Liu Bang defeated Xiang Yu and became the emperor and the Han Dynasty was officially established. However, in the next few years, wars of the new dynasty had not concluded and the removal of the remnants of the previous Qin Dynasty and Chu Kingdom, as well as rebellions of vassal states and generals continued. It was not until the reign of Emperor Hui of the Han Dynasty that the nation started to enjoy a relative peace.
