From Characters to Books: Shang and Zhou Dynasties

The Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties (consisting of Western and Eastern Zhou Dynasties) were the foundation eras of feudal Chinese politics, economy and culture, as well as the emergence and foundation period of Chinese books and book industry. From the perspective of Chinese book development history, Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties were also the ages that Chinese book industry emerged and was institutionalized. Books written during this period, after being sanctified by Confucians in the future, became the ideological foundation of feudal China and left an essential impact on Chinese academic research and book history for more than two thousand years.
